For 16AW, BEAMS PLUS presents the theme Mountaineering Military Work (M.M.W). Each category is designed to have different functions but all share the same Heavy Duty spirit. The Japanese have historically respected these "made in USA" functions, and gradually interpreted "durability" and "practicability" in their own standards. The progressive and rational clothing in those days were the future which became the roots of today's fashion. This collection is based on that spirit with modernized details.
The L-2B jacket is updated with 800FP goose down and a sophisticated cutting. The Mackinaw jacket is updated with Gortex® but the appearance is kept as the original classic design. The classic block check vest is updated to a reversible wear that fits perfectly not only in the mountains but also on in the city.
The idea of updating "Heavy Duty" for Beams Plus is to improve lightness, durability and wear comfort without changing the authentic classic appearances. In the mid-1940s to mid-1960s, so called America’s "golden era", the U.S.’ national strength remarkably grew, taking advantage of the booming economy. During this era, systemized mass production eventually became the mainstream, and various uniforms were modified for more specific scenes.
The fashion standard and origin of today’s basic wear comes from the categories, American traditional, work, sports and military.
